Northumberland & Durham Championships 2024, 2nd – 4th Feb 2024

The first weekend in February provided some fantastic swimming by Team Wear Valley with swimmers achieving numerous exceptional performances. George Anderson and Joshua Whitton both stepped up in their first County championships with 3 lifetime best performances in their 3 individual events. Freya Colling gained well deserved lifetime best performances in both the 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly. Charlotte Wilson made finals in the 200m backstroke and 100m butterfly, also making the reserve list for the 200m IM and 200m breaststroke events in which she smashed her personal best times. North East Regional Short Course (25m) Championships, Sheffield

Write up from our visit to the North East Regional Short Course (25m) Championships on ov 4th & 5th November at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. Well, what a weekend that was! Based on that performance Wear Valley ASC can claim to be ranked in the top 20 of the 61 NE of England swimming clubs that competed at these championships. Richmondales Back to the Pool Gala (16th & 17th September)

Gala Report This was the first gala of the season which is always the gala used to set the baseline for the competitive season. We had 27 swimmers on the Saturday and 24 on the Sunday and we were shoehorned into a small area of the changing rooms which was extremely hot! South Tyneside Sprint Meet – Report

Wear Valley swimmers enjoyed a fantastic weekend of fast swimming and fun in the sun at Haven Point, South Shields this past weekend.  A strong squad of 15 swimmers strutted their stuff over the 2 days of competition, with everyone having great success over the weekend. Sensational Swimming at Sunderland Summer Splash!

The weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of July witnessed a fantastic festival of swimming at the Aquatics Centre in Sunderland for Wear Valley swimmers. For what was the very first long course (50m pool) gala for the majority of swimmers, Wear Valley athletes acquitted themselves with great skill and determination, producing over 40 personal best performances and demonstrating great technique along the way. Successful Home Gala for Wear Valley

Wear Valley ASC welcomed local swimming clubs back to the pool on the 14th May and 15th May for their first home gala since COVID restrictions were lifted. Aquajets Newcastle, Sedgefield, Teesdale Tiger Sharks, Borocudas, Darlington, Ashington, Richmond Dales, North Tyneside and Chester-le-Street joined WVASC for an action-packed weekend at Woodhouse Close Leisure Complex in Bishop Auckland, which saw plenty of personal bests (PB’s) achieved and many more medals won! Regional Swimming Success for Wear Valley

Over the last few weekends, a number of Wear Valley ASC swimmers have been competing in the Swim England North East Regional Swimming Championships. The younger members of the Senior Group, Ava Race, Joshua Whitton and Romilly Staines got their first ever taste of regional swimming action over the 23rd/24th April, swimming in the Age Group Championships at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds. Wonderful Wear Valley Swims 2022

A total of 17 swimmers from the junior and senior squads of Wear Valley Amateur Swimming Club competed against other clubs at Tynemouth Swimming Pool over the weekend of 25th to 27th March 2022. For some of the swimmers it was their first inter-club gala. The athletes achieved a total of 53 personal best times (pbs), 8 gold, 9 silver and 14 bronze medals. Isobel Micklethwait swam a pb in each of her 4 events and won a silver medal in the 200m breaststroke and a bronze medal in the 100m freestyle (free). Tremendous Teams

Well done to all of the 14 Wear Valley Amateur Swimming Club teams who swam in the Northumberland and Durham County Championships held on 20th March 2022 at the Sunderland Aquatic Centre, but especially the 11/12 age female 4×50 metre (m) medley team who won County Bronze medals!! The four young swimmers consisting of Daisy Mulholland (backstroke), Ava Race (breaststroke), Romilly Staines (butterfly) and Kitty Graham (freestyle) swam a fantastic race gaining a place in the final.
