Well done to all 5 of the Wear Valley Amateur Swimming Club swimmers who qualified for the the Northumberland and Durham Counties Championships! Some amazing results were achieved by the squad who competed at the 50m (long course) pool at Sunderland Aquatic Centre over 2 weekends 11th-13th and 26-27th February 2022. A total of 32 clubs brought swimmers to compete at this high level gala. Ava Race qualified for 3 events; the 50, 100, and 200 metre breaststroke. Tremendous Gala at Tynemouth

Ten Wear Valley Amateur Swimming Club swimmers made a tremendous start to the year achieving fantastic results at the ā€œLast Chance Northumberland and Durham County Qualifierā€ hosted by Newcastle Swim Team in Tynemouth. The gala was held over the weekend of the 15th and 16th of January at the Tynemouth Pool. A total of 42 personal best (pb) times were gained by the athletes together with 14 medals. Wear Valley goes Christmas Crackers

  Wear Valley Amateur Swimming Club swimmers enjoyed early festive cheer with a haul of 37 medals and 33 personal best times. The team of 12 athletes from the WVASC Junior and Senior squads competed atĀ  the Louisa Centre, Stanley, over the weekend of 4th/5th December 2021. The gala was well attended by County Durham teams and there was an added incentive of a Christmas chocolate box for the fastest competitor in each heat! Remarkable Regionals in Sheffield!

Many congratulations to all 7 of the Wear Valley Amateur Swimming Club athletes who both qualified and competed in the Swim England North East Region 25m Championships held over the weekend of 6th/7th November at Pondā€™s Forge, Sheffield. The squad, ranging in age from 11 to 17, raced against swimmers from approximately 50 teams from across the region including Sheffield, Leeds and Newcastle. Spectacular Spooktacular Swimming in Sunderland

Wear Valley Amateur Swimming Club enjoyed another spooktacular gala over the weekend of 30th/31st October, hosted by City of Sunderland Amateur Swimming Club in the 25 metre pool at the Aquatic Centre. Ava Race smashed all of her 8 events, achieving personal bests (pbs) in each race and 3 bronze medals for her age category in the 50m butterfly (fly), 100m and 200m breaststroke. Ava took 14 seconds off her 100m breaststroke time (1.34.91). Huge Congratulations to Ross Canning who won a bronze medal in the Swim England National Swimming Masters Competition held at Ponds Forge Sheffield over the weekend of 29th to 31st October 2021.Ā  The Wear Valley Amateur Swimming Club member swam a time of 5.26.69 in the 400m Individual Medley which secured him a bronze medal. The gala attracted top class swimmers of all ages from across the country. Well done Ross!!  

Brilliant BOSSS Winter Swim Festival

Wow what a gala! What an amazing set of results for Wear Valley Amateur Swimming Club (WVASC). A total of 11 swimmers between the ages of 11 to 17 competed on the weekend of 15/16/17th October 2021 in a gala organised by the Borough of Stockton Swim Scheme (BOSSS) at the Billingham Forum. There were many notable performances. Four swimmers, Emily Whitton, Ava Race, Daisy MulhollandĀ  and Romilly Staines gained their first regional qualifying times. Fantastic Festival of Swimming

Five intrepid senior swimmers from Wear Valley Amateur Swimming Club set off for their first gala in 18 months and returned with some fantastic results. The event was held at the 50m pool in Sunderland Aquatic Centre and included swimmers from across the Northumberland and Durham Counties. The gala was held under strict Covid guidelines. Wonderful Wear Valley Gala

Many congratulations to all of the 26 Wear Valley swimmers who competed recently at their home ā€˜May Meetā€™ at Woodhouse Close Leisure Centre, Bishop Auckland over the weekend of 18/19 May. Lots of medals were won and some huge personal bests (pbs) obtained. Swimmers from 10 other clubs also took part including as far as Harrogate, Oswestry and Richmondale.
