Wear Valley ASC welcomed local swimming clubs back to the pool on the 14th May and 15th May for their first home gala since COVID restrictions were lifted. Aquajets Newcastle, Sedgefield, Teesdale Tiger Sharks, Borocudas, Darlington, Ashington, Richmond Dales, North Tyneside and Chester-le-Street joined WVASC for an action-packed weekend at Woodhouse Close Leisure Complex in Bishop Auckland, which saw plenty of personal bests (PB’s) achieved and many more medals won!
A total of 27 swimmers from WVASC competed over the weekend, where a massive 112 PB’s were achieved!! For many of our younger swimmers, it was their first competitive gala, and it was evident that the many hours of training paid off! Congratulations to all our swimmers, you did your coaches proud with how well you swam and they way you all supported each other.
This was also our Head Coach, Angela Callan’s, last home gala in charge before stepping down. She was presented with a bouquet of flowers from the Club as a thank you for everything that she has done over the years. Whilst she is stepping down, she will still be about, and many of you will have seen new Head Coach, Paul Armstrong, on the poolside over the weekend.
Lastly, a huge thank you to the Committee Members, parents and officials who gave up their weekend to ensure the Gala could go ahead. Without their support, none of it would be possible.
